Just a note for anyone considering turning a toddler/older baby back to RF for safety reasons, but worried they won't like it... I just got a swedish carseat with a 25kg rearfacing limit for my baby daughter.  She's not actually big enough for it yet, but my toddler, 20kg 102cm and 2yrs 8 months, decided he wanted to use the seat.

My husband said that he wouldn't like facing backwards, and said he looked uncomfortable in it.  But my boy said he was comfy and liked it.  We went for a drive, and he laughed and giggled all the way, and kept saying "backwards is fun!"

He's been RF now for several days, and loves it!  We get running commentaries on what he sees out the back window, and he is really helpful positioning himself in the seat while he gets strapped in.

Our only problem now is going to be when his little sister gets to 12kg and needs her seat back!! Smiley

How excellent that your son is now rear facing and enjoying it. What seat did you get if you dont mind me asking? My son is in a Brio Zento we just moved him out of his Safe & Sound Meridian AHR, i love to side impact protection of the ahr, which the zento doesnt have, it also made an excellent head rest when he fell asleep Smiley Could you just get another one for your daughter?

It's a Britax Multi Tech.  My daughter is in a Meridian AHR, and like you I love the SIP from the head rest, which is one of the reasons I went for the Multi-Tech.

As I only recently got a Britax Frontier for my son, I don't think I could justify 'parking it up' long term and buying another MT, particularly considering the cost involved.  But I will have several more months before my daughter gets to 12 kg, and my son will be 3 by then, so he'll probably go back to FF again then.

errrr... yup, it did...  around $700.  Shocked The list price on the seat is actually about that if you buy in Sweden, but you can get back 25% for tax as a non-resident, so that covers the postage.  But yeah, cheap option it ain't Grin  Mind you, as it can also be used FF to 18kg if I wanted to, and as a belt positioning booster, I can ALMOST justify the cost by saying, "It's the last seat I need to buy" Tongue

Lol $700's not too bad really Shocked We were looking at a Recaro Sport just before the Brio Zento's came out as ds next seat and they are more than that Smiley I'm wondering if i can convince dh!

In saying that though we are used to paying alot of money for good carseats, our capsule was $300, the AHR's are $500 & the Brio Zento is $550.

Maybe I can convince dh we need it for the next baby lol or when ds grows out of the Zento as i'm sure he is going to do before he reaches 25kg. Do you think your son would out weigh it before he out grows it, if that makes sense? My son has a long torso but he is a lightweight.

What do you think of the frontier?

Yeah, I figured compared with the top-end seat prices in NZ it wasn't entirely awful - unlike the US where their prices for seats are so cheap.  I think part of the reason we pay so much here in comparison is that there is 23% duty on carseats, (Go figure!!  For a safety product!!!)  Huh

My boy is a really solidly built fella, so I don't think he'll outgrow it before he gets to 25kg.  His seated shoulder height is 38cm, he's got plenty of room in the current slot (in fact, is borderline between that and the one below), and he has one slot to go.  But for slightly built kids, I wouldn't bank on them getting to 25kg.  Mind you, it all depends whether their height is in their torso or their legs.  Ideally you need someone to comment who has both the Zento and the Multi-tech.  You might find someone on the US based board www.car-seat.org  they have an international section there.

Absolutely love the frontier!  I just don't have anything bad to say about it.  It installed rock solid, seems really comfy, (my son was never much of a car sleeper until he got the Frontier), and is incredibly easy to adjust.  Awesome seat IMHO.   Grin

Yeah, I imported it.  It's not really legal for use in NZ, but I'd take great delight in defending any charge that might arise from that Cool

The Maxi AHR is I think the closest we've got to it, in that its a FF only seat with arm rests and a moveable headrest, (I know, it's not a 'headrest' as such, but it's just easier to call it that!!), but it's bigger, sturdier, is way easier to adjust, has LATCH... oh, but the cup-holders are crap Grin
