Hiya,
My son is 18 months and just on 12kgs.  I've read the benefits of rear facing for as long as possible and I'd like to but I'm not sure what is the best (safest) car seat to get.

I think that the only options in NZ are the Cosco which rear faces to 16kgs and the new Brio Zento which RF to 25kgs.

Is one better than the other - apart from price and weight limit or are they both as safe IYKWIM?

Cheers,
Boldnee

Hiya Boldnee!

All car seats sold in New Zealand conform to one of our accepted safety standards. So they are all definitely safest. Some may perform differently and offer different features over another but it's impossible to say which is safest.

This link http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=37085 has a review on the Brio Zento. You'll be able to find numerous reviews on the Cosco Scenera via google.

It's kind of comparing apples with oranges unfortunately, they are two entirely different safety seats, you just can't compare.

Hope this helps!

Feel free to email me if you need further assistance Smiley

Hi Bonnie,
Thanks for getting back to me.

I read your review the other day when trying to find into about the Brio so I knew all that stuff Wink.

We went out today and invested in the Brio Zento 'cos it will last us longer than the Cosco.  I think when the #2 (currently due mid May) gets to 12kgs we'll get a Cosco to last us till #2 is 16kgs, then we'll swap them over and keep #2 RF in the Brio and FF #1 in the Cosco.  IYGWIM.
